Mapex Drums’ DRUMMER OF TOMORROW Contest – Quarterfinal Voting Round is Open Now Through October 10th

Mapex Drums’ DRUMMER OF TOMORROW contest is in the quarterfinalist voting stage! Each entry features a studio performance, along with approximately 90 seconds of personal footage shot of the contestant’s family, friends and music teachers. Voting runs from now until October 10th at 10am CST. The eight advancing participants (semifinalists) will be split up into groups of four, one group heading to Seattle and another group to Miami. They will perform at the annual Big Beat Competition hosted by the Five Star Drum Shops.

Since yesterday, over 1,000 new users have registered to vote and comment on videos! Voting is free and you can vote once per entry, per day. You can also login directly from your Facebook account! New users can register to vote at DrummerofTomorrow.com.

The quarterfinalist entries were filmed at SIR Studios in downtown Nashville, complete with professional-level sound equipment and personnel, and were completed over the course of two days on September 16th and 17th. The drummers were treated to an entertaining time in Music City; the contestants explored and experienced the Nashville nightlife, and B.B. King’s Bar and Grille even hosted dinner on both nights!

The elite 15 were hand picked out of 500 entries from drummers ranging from ages 14 to 66 by a Mapex artist judging panel including Coheed & Cambria’s Chris Pennie, Derico Watson, Mark Bennett, and Mapex Staff Joe Hibbs (Artist Relations Manager) and Mike Robinson (Director of Marketing), with one other winner chosen by the www.DrummerofTomorrow.com viewers due to having the most votes during the voting period.

The winners of the DRUMMER OF TOMORROW contest will be entered to receive over $50,000 in prizes and drum gear. Prizes include drum sets from Mapex Drums, cymbals from Zildjian, drumheads from Remo, drum sticks from Vic Firth and songbooks from Alfred Music Publishing. In addition, the top winner will win an Artist Endorsement Contract from Mapex Drums, and will appear on the company’s official Artist Roster.

The DRUMMER OF TOMORROW United States contest began the first of several elimination rounds on June 1st, 2011, and will continue through 2012, culminating at the Musik Messe show in Frankfurt, Germany. United States entries are now closed. As winners advance through the contest, they will be flown to various locales to perform. Destinations include a studio in Nashville, Tennessee, the 2012 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, and the 2012 Musikmesse show in Germany.
