STONE SOUR Reveal New Tracks, Release Date + More

Grammy-nominated rockers Stone Sour will release the first installment of their double album House of Gold & Bones Part 1 on Roadrunner Records on October 23, 2012. The second installment will be released in 2013. The album was recorded at Sound Farm Studios just outside of the band's native Des Moines, Iowa with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Staind) at the helm.

The band is sharing the first two tracks from Part 1, titled "Gone Sovereign" and "Absolute Zero," at Both tracks embody and encompass everything that Stone Sour is: a forward-thinking rock band that is able to mesh maelstrom with melody, brains with brawn and the head with the heart.

Guitarist Josh Rand states, "House of Gold & Bones takes everything that's great about this band and amplifies it. The riffs, the lyrics, the grooves and the songs are like Stone Sour times 10. There's also heavy stuff that's like nothing we've ever done before . It's dark as hell and a complete experience from the first track to the last."

Singer, songwriter and lyricist Corey Taylor, himself a bestselling author courtesy of last year's Seven Deadly Sins, wrote the lyrics for the 24 tracks that make up House of Gold & Bones as a linear storyline. It tells the compelling tale of a character created by Taylor. The release of the first two tracks from Part 1 is the first step in unveiling a journey which has only just begun and will continue over the next year. Music is just one of the media the band uses to tell the story.

Stone Sour have also confirmed the first leg of a massive global tour push to support House of Gold & Bones, playing shows on five continents, with many more to come. Says Taylor, "It's going to be awesome to bring the House of Gold & Bones to the fans live. We're all psyched to come to Japan and South America right away as well; they're some of the best fans in the world! We gave people a taste of Part 1, now we're going to bring them the best Stone Sour show they've ever seen. Get ready: It begins soon…"

More information about House of Gold & Bones will be revealed as the project unfolds. The track listing for Part 1 is below.

The Smashing Pumpkins to Reissue 1994 Album Pisces Iscariot

EMI Music’s extensive reissue campaign honoring the legacy of The Smashing Pumpkins continues July 17th in North America and July 16th internationally. That’s when the iconic alternative band’s third album Pisces Iscariot - 1994’s platinum-certified disc that reached #4 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart - receives the fully remastered treatment for the first time. This follows last year’s acclaimed reissues of the band’s groundbreaking first two albums, Gish (1991) and Siamese Dream (1993).

“A collection of odds and orphans from the dusky realms of Pumpkinland” is how Pumpkins founding member Billy Corgan describes Pisces Iscariot in the liner notes penned by David Wild. “Pisces Iscariot was the little mix tape that went platinum,” writes Wild. “This unlikely smash album that some came to mistake for the Pumpkins’ third studio effort even yielded a hit single--another wonderfully odd moment in the landslide that was the intense early success story of Smashing Pumpkins.”

Featuring the band’s take on the Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks song “Landslide” which reached #3 on Modern Rock Tracks chart, Pisces Iscariot is being released in multiple configurations: Deluxe Physical Album--which comes with a live DVD and the first-ever Pumpkins demo reproduced on cassette--Deluxe Digital, Standard Physical, Digital and 180G Vinyl. The bonus content and special features were curated from the band’s archives by Corgan, and have been painstakingly remastered for the first time from the original master tapes by Bob Ludwig.

With the full support and guidance from The Smashing Pumpkins - who’ve created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history, selling over 30 million albums - EMI’s global catalog reissue campaign will last through 2013; it will encompass all the band’s albums and B-sides from 1991-2000, with other release dates to be announced. The pivotal group’s many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation.

ATTIKA 7: Performing Never-Before-Heard Music on The Discovery Channel’s New Hit Show ‘The Devil’s Ride’ Next Tuesday, June 5th

Tune in to The Discovery Channel’s new hit motorcycle club series, ‘The Devil’s Ride’, next week for ATTIKA 7’s world premiere of select tracks appearing on the band’s upcoming full-length album, Blood Of My Enemies. The episode, featuring a previously recorded live performance with exclusive, never-before-heard tracks, will air on June 5, 2012 at 10pm ET/PT. The series often features ATTIKA 7 guitarist Rusty Coones and will include music from the band’s new album throughout the rest of the season.

ATTIKA 7 and recently revealed the brand new track, ‘Devil’s Daughter’. Fans can head to to listen to the track now at this location.

ATTIKA 7’s new album, Blood Of My Enemies, is set for a July 31, 2012 release and features ex-Biohazard vocalist Evan Seinfeld, lead guitarist, notable songwriter and famed (Sons of Anarchy) motorcycle builder Rusty Coones, and bassist Tony Campos, founding member of Static X, who also currently performs in Soulfly, Prong, Possessed, Asesino and Ministry. The band recorded Blood of My Enemies with legendary producer MUDROCK (Avenged Sevenfold, Godsmack).

Blood of My Enemies is a brutal slab of unrelenting hard rock, with the initial groundwork laid by Rusty Coones in the confines of a federal penitentiary. It was in this unforgiving environment that he penned the songs that would eventually become the band’s uncompromising debut.

KILL DEVIL HILL Enters Billboard Charts

KILL DEVIL HILL the new project featuring acclaimed drummer Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, Dio) and bassist Rex Brown, (Pantera, Down) guitar slinger Mark Zavon and lead vocalist Dewey Bragg released their debut album last week via SPV/Steamhammer. Shifting over 1800 copies, KILL DEVIL HILL landed at #9 on the Billboard Top New Artist Albums (HeatSeekers) Chart, #41 on the Top Hard Music Chart and #50 on the Independent Album Chart.

The album is available in a standard CD edition, iTunes digital download, and Double Gatefold LP. It is available for purchase on AMAZON.

The band recently released a video for the single "Strange". Check it out on the SPV YouTube Channel HERE.

It's not easy to say what catches the listener's attention first on Kill Devil Hill, the debut album by the newly formed band of the same name: the strong guitar hooks, the killer grooves, the dynamic production or the potent vocal melodies. Rex Brown, bassist of this supergroup and erstwhile member of Pantera and Down sees KILL DEVIL HILL in its entirety as an extremely exciting new band "To me, this band is a musical adventure trip," he reckons. Brown knows what he's talking about, after all he was involved in some of the most important rock and metal recordings of the past 30 years. So if Brown can hardly contain his enthusiasm, there must be something special to the KILL DEVIL HILL phenomenon.

SIX FEET UNDER: First Week Chart Numbers Revealed!

In addition, Undead landed at at #30 on the Billboard Top Independent Album Chart, #22 on the Billboard Top Hard Music Albums Chart, #14 Billboard Top Current Albums Chart and #183 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.
In Canada, the record ranked in at #34 on the Hard Music Chart, #199 on the Top 200 Current Albums Chart, #167 on the iTunes Top 200 Chart, #35 on the iTunes Rock Chart and #3 on the iTunes Metal Chart. Undead reaped additional praise in Germany entering the German Media Market/Saturn Album Charts at #56 and the German Media Control Trend Charts at #40.
Comments vocalist/death metal maverick Chris Barnes: “Thank you to all of our fans for embracing our new album Undead with such ravenous fervor! And to all at Metal Blade Records for their belief in the band all these years and all the hard work of everyone at the label! This marks the first time in SIX FEET UNDER’s career, as well as my own, that we have reached Billboard’s Top 200. It is proof positive that underground music and death metal is not dead and is still a force to be dealt with. A very special thanks to the decades of hate that spawned the focus that went into this album. Cheers! It's 4:20, motherfucker!”
Crowned “the best thing SFU have recorded since Maximum Violence,” by Decibel, “an album on which this new level of musicianship adds value without tarnishing SIX FEET UNDER’s legacy of brutality,” by Outburn and simply a “kickass SIX FEET UNDER record,” by Revolver, Undead was unleashed to North American ears via Metal Blade on May 22 and offers an updated lineup of Barnes alongside guitarist Rob Arnold (ex- Chimaira), longtime guitarist Steve Swanson (ex-Massacre), bassist Jeff Hughell (ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile), and drummer Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira).

In conjunction with the record’s release, SIX FEET UNDER will embark on a near three-week run of live ceremonies next week. The 18 Nights Of Blood Tour will begin in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8. The band will be joined by newly recruited
rhythm guitarist Ola Englund who takes the place of Rob Arnold. Support will be provided by Dying Fetus and Revocation.

While you await the arrival of Norwegian black metallists 1349 to storm the U.S. alongside Marduk, you can feast your eyes on the drawings that artist Kim Holm created of the band performing live.

The Aural Hellfire Legion stated, “From time to time, we (1349) get approached by other artists that find inspiration in our work and want to pay tribute to us. It is a great honor and such an awarding payback for the hard work we put into our art. Every now and then there is an artist that comes along that presents us with something so special that we want to share it and promote their work, and Kim Holm is a perfect example of this. This guy drew the band while performing live and was able to transform the live energy we present on stage into his drawings. Check out his work!"

You can check out Kim Holm's representation of 1349 live on his website and compare it to real life by coming out to see the band on one of their upcoming shows along with labelmates WITHERED on one of the dates listed below:

FEAR FACTORY Unleash Special Video Preview; Recharger Confirmed As Lead Single

FEAR FACTORY has released a special trailer that is a visual preview into the story behind their forthcoming new album, The Industrialist. Set for release June 5, The Industrialist is the second album written by vocalist Burton C. Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares since reuniting in 2009 after a seven-year split. An audio snippet for the album’s lead single, “Recharger,” is now available at the band’s official YouTube page; the single is available via iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers beginning April 24.
As previously announced, The Industrialist is a conceptual record based around a short fiction written by Bell; lyrics to the album’s ten songs divulge the narrative as discussed recently by Bell with Decibel Magazine. The album will be available on three formats – standard CD, a limited edition deluxe digi-book (featuring two additional songs), and 180-gram double vinyl. Pre-orders for the album in all formats will be available shortly via Candlelight Records’ official webstore.
Bell notes, “the protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise.”

The Industrialist follows the 2010 release of Mechanize. Widely regarded, the album was the first release from FEAR FACTORY in six years. Mechanize debuted on Billboard’s Top 100 album chart week of release and topped CMJ’s Loud Rock radio chart as programmers embraced the band’s triumphant return. Sirius XM and Headbangers Ball’s host Jose Mangin noted, “after Mechanize dominated 2010 as Liquid Metal’s Album Of The Year, North America is chompin’ at the bit to get an ear full of new Fear Factory. I have no doubt that FEAR FACTORY are going to kick our collective asses in 2012.”
Members of FEAR FACTORY are currently in Los Angeles rehearsing for upcoming performances in South America followed by their first U.S. tour since late 2010. Bell and Cazares presented members of Slipknot the “Comeback Of The Year” award last week at the 4th Annual Revolver Golden God Awards; an award they were nominated for in 2010. Xbox broadcast the program, including pre-ceremony black carpet interviews, to all game console owners; Revolver Magazine streamed the event live via their Facebook page. Rebroadcast information will be announced by Revolver Magazine shortly.
Dates on FEAR FACTORY’s upcoming American tour are noted below:
