TOOL's 21st Anniversary Edition of Opiate Available Now

TOOL's handcrafted, bonus-laden, 21st anniversary, limited edition package of their original debut EP, Opiate, is available now here.

The anniversary edition is limited to 5,000 copies and features art direction by Adam Jones, illustrations by legendary artist Adi Granov and design packaging by Mackie Osborne, who has collaborated with TOOL on many albums including 10,000 Days, Lateralus and Salival as well as posters and merchandise.

The 5,000 copies are broken down as 5 x 1,000 runs with each set featuring a variation of the exterior graphics and included bonus items such as a new stereoscopic image for fans to use with their glasses from the 10,000 Days packaging. Five lucky fans will receive a certificate dubbed the "Seal of Xatanitos," which the band has inserted randomly amidst the 5,000 copies of the collectible reissue. The prize will only be disclosed to each of the five winners.

The packages are only available via TOOL's website. A limit of three packages from each of the 5 x 1,000 versions is in place.

Jones recently spoke with Revolver and Spin regarding the the impetus for the Opiate reissue as well as the history of the EP. An upcoming Guitar World feature will showcase the sketches and process involved in creating the collectible set.
