FEAR FACTORY Unleash Special Video Preview; Recharger Confirmed As Lead Single

FEAR FACTORY has released a special trailer that is a visual preview into the story behind their forthcoming new album, The Industrialist. Set for release June 5, The Industrialist is the second album written by vocalist Burton C. Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares since reuniting in 2009 after a seven-year split. An audio snippet for the album’s lead single, “Recharger,” is now available at the band’s official YouTube page; the single is available via iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers beginning April 24.
As previously announced, The Industrialist is a conceptual record based around a short fiction written by Bell; lyrics to the album’s ten songs divulge the narrative as discussed recently by Bell with Decibel Magazine. The album will be available on three formats – standard CD, a limited edition deluxe digi-book (featuring two additional songs), and 180-gram double vinyl. Pre-orders for the album in all formats will be available shortly via Candlelight Records’ official webstore.
Bell notes, “the protagonist (The Industrialist) is the incarnation of all industries in the form of an automaton. The mechanical, technological, and scientific advances through the industrial age led to the creation of The Industrialist. In the story, the automaton becomes sentient as it collects memories with each passing day. Through observation and learning, it gains the will to exist. What was meant to help man, will eventually be man’s demise.”

The Industrialist follows the 2010 release of Mechanize. Widely regarded, the album was the first release from FEAR FACTORY in six years. Mechanize debuted on Billboard’s Top 100 album chart week of release and topped CMJ’s Loud Rock radio chart as programmers embraced the band’s triumphant return. Sirius XM and Headbangers Ball’s host Jose Mangin noted, “after Mechanize dominated 2010 as Liquid Metal’s Album Of The Year, North America is chompin’ at the bit to get an ear full of new Fear Factory. I have no doubt that FEAR FACTORY are going to kick our collective asses in 2012.”
Members of FEAR FACTORY are currently in Los Angeles rehearsing for upcoming performances in South America followed by their first U.S. tour since late 2010. Bell and Cazares presented members of Slipknot the “Comeback Of The Year” award last week at the 4th Annual Revolver Golden God Awards; an award they were nominated for in 2010. Xbox broadcast the program, including pre-ceremony black carpet interviews, to all game console owners; Revolver Magazine streamed the event live via their Facebook page. Rebroadcast information will be announced by Revolver Magazine shortly.

Saturday's lineup is All That Remains, DragonForce, Overkill, Protest the Hero, Unearth, Iwrestledabearonce, Periphery, Bane, 100 Demons, Cruel Hand, Holy Grail, Shipwreck, God Forbid, Structures, The Mongoloids, Naysayer, Rotting Out, Huntress, Expire, The Greenery, Cockpunch, Hung, Revenge, Diamond Plate, Wrong Answer, Manners, Suidakra, Trumpet The Harlot, and Fire in the Skies.

Sunday will close out the weekend with Killswitch Engage, Every Time I Die, Vanna, For Today, Sleeping Giant, Chelsea Grin, Stick to Your Guns, Attila, MyChildren MyBride, Emmure, For the Fallen Dreams, On Broken Wings, Recon, Texas In July, Betraying the Martyrs, Upon a Burning Body, Like Moths To Flames, Volumes, Hundredth, No Bragging Rights, Glass Cloud, Counterparts, Gideon, and The Air I Breathe.

UNTIMELY DEMISE Denied Entry To The US; Tour Ends At The Border

Canadian thrash trio UNTIMELY DEMISE were denied access to the United States earlier this week, only several dates into their three-week tour of the western half of North America.

Having successfully blazed their way through the first five performances in Canada on their way south, UNTIMELY DEMISE proceeded to the border checkpoint into Washington, and due to a logistical paperwork error involving one member, after multiple attempts, the band were not allowed entry into the country. Frustrated, they turned around and headed home, posting a statement on their Facebook last night explaining the situation in detail and apologizing to their American fans and friends they'd planned on raging with over the next few weeks. Get the full scoop on this unfortunate situation HERE, and stay tuned for future US live actions once this is all cleared up.

In the meantime, the band still have some badass regional gigs confirmed in Saskatchewan and Alberta in May, and will have more to broadcast in the weeks ahead.

UNTIMELY DEMISE Confirmed Live Dates:

5/04/2012 Amigos Cantina - Saskatoon, SK w/ Mares Of Thrace

5/12/2012 The Distillery - Calgary, AB w/ Massacre @ Chuck Schuldiner memorial birthday bash

VALDUR Announce New Member; Band To Headline The Coven: Blood Pact With The Devil Fest This Friday

West Coast blackened death conjurers VALDUR recently added guitarist/vocalist Samuel to their dark legion of wrath. Comments the band in a collective statement: “We are fortunate enough to inject a healthy and brutal dose of diversity into our ongoing journey. The band is hard at work writing a new full-length, and are also setting up a West Coast tour for this summer.”

The band will be setting Baldwin Park, California ablaze headlining The Coven: Blood Pact With The Devil Fest this Friday, April 13, 2012 at The American Legion. Their set will include new songs from their as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2010's unsympathetic Raven God Amongst Us full-length. The band will also be playing a local show on April 20, 2012 at Lakanuki in Mammoth Lakes, California. More info available on both shows at THIS LOCATION. In addition, VALDUR will be taking part in this year’s Gathering Of Shadows Festival in Colorado this summer. Further details to come…

Hailing from Mammoth Lakes, California, VALDUR released Raven God Amongst Us in 2010 via Blood Mountain Records. The record proved to be an infernal masterpiece among the underground masses.

Stay tuned for further audio devastation from the VALDUR collective later this year as well as additional live dates.

BARONESS' YELLOW & GREEN CONFIRMED FOR JULY 17 RELEASE

Baroness, the Savannah-based quartet whose two prior releases (Red Album and Blue Record) were awarded record of the year honors from both Revolver and Decibel Magazines as well as repeatedly placing on year-end best of lists from Pitchfork and Village Voice, return with a new album titled Yellow & Green on July 17 via Relapse Records.

Yellow & Green reunites Baroness with Blue Record producer John Congleton (Explosions in the Sky, St. Vincent, Xiu Xiu) following both the band's busiest period (multiple worldwide tours including stops at Coachella, Bonnaroo and Soundwave) and most luxurious year, having taken nearly all of 2011 off to freely write and demo for the 2CD/LP album.

"We had been on tour for eight years, and we decided to take a break from our adventure to dig our heels in at home and write a new record," explains John Baizley, front man for the band and the artist responsible for Baroness' now iconic album art (an article profiling Baizley as a graphic artist is in the April edition of Juxtapoz). "We spent the entirety of the past year dedicating ourselves to the new album. Without the break from touring and the time we took to rest and reflect, we would have been entirely unable to write this new record.. We have become re-inspired. Now it's time to get back out on the road."

Baizley also recently spoke with Alternative Press regarding the recording of Yellow & Green, which can be read here.

Baroness embark on their first tour dates since 2010 as they join Meshuggah for a Spring trek across North America, previewing material from Yellow & Green. Tour dates are:

HEATHEN SIGNS WITH NUCLEAR BLAST

The ink has finally dried and Nuclear Blast Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of the Bay Area’s indomitable thrash metal band HEATHEN!

Founding member & guitarist Lee Altus comments on the new alliance:

“I'm really happy and couldn't think of a better label for HEATHEN. I've known people at Nuclear Blast, some of whom have been fans of the band going as far back as the early demo days, and have been friends with them for many years. It's amazing for me to think that throughout this band’s career, every album we recorded has been released on a different label. I can finally say that we have found home. Nuclear Blast has become a mecca for Bay Area thrash bands and we are happy to join our friends and partners in crime Exodus, Death Angel, Testament and Forbidden. Now it's time to get to work on the new album!

Lead singer David White adds: “I want to thank all the fans for their amazing support; we do not take any of this lightly! Now we move forward with a true Metal record company that really understands what we're all about, 2012 and beyond!!!”

Jaap Wagemaker of the A&R Department at Nuclear Blast Germany shares the following:

It is no secret that the staff of Nuclear Blast has a soft spot for thrash metal. We all grew up here with classics such as Breaking The Silence and Victims Of Deception, and who doesn’t remember that legendary tour from 1991 with SEPULTURA, SACRED REICH and HEATHEN destroying the stages night after night! We are totally stoked to announce that these legendary Bay Area Thrashers have inked a deal with us and are now labelmates with EXODUS, DEATH ANGEL,TESTAMENT, FORBIDDEN, ANTHRAX, SEPULTURA, OVERKILL, KREATOR, DESTRUCTION and TANKARD!!! Since HEATHEN’s reunion for Thrash of the Titans, we had been following the band very closely over the last couple of years with first-hand information from Lee Altus - who is also swinging the axe in EXODUS - and what we heard from him made us very curious! After seeing HEATHEN play an amazing show at Rock Hard and their release of another classic album with The Evolution of Chaos, it was very clear to us that the band needed to become part of the Nuclear family as well. Seeing the band play several times at last year’s Thrashfest Classics, we were finally able to make this work!! With the signing of HEATHEN, another thrash dream has came true!! Welcome home guys!!!

Forged in the fertile breeding ground of the Bay Area’s thrash scene in 1984 and debuting onto the worldwide tape-trading scene in 1986 with their six-song “Pray For Death” demo, HEATHEN went on to create the now classic Breaking The Silence in 1987 (whose opening track “Death By Hanging” quickly became a live staple) and 1991’s Victims Of Deception, which included the nine-and-a-half minute opus “Heathen’s Song.”

Reunited in 2001 for San Francisco’s Thrash of the Titans benefit for Testament’s Chuck Billy and Death’s Chuck Schuldiner, HEATHEN reemerged in full force after a 19-year absence with stellar reviews for 2010’s The Evolution Of Chaos and will begin recording their fourth studio album later this year.

HEATHEN has performed their brand of guitar-driven, fuel-injected thrash metal in Europe at numerous summer festivals, on the Thrash Fest Classics tour with co-headliners Exodus & Sepultura, and the Killfest tour with Overkill, in North America on last year’s spring tour with Destruction, and most recently at the “Bonded By Baloff: A Decade Of Remembrance” memorial in Oakland in February. Their live sets continually test the endurance of headbanging audiences everywhere.

Check out the video for “Dying Season” from The Evolution Of Chaos on YouTube.

HEATHEN 2012 is David White on vocals; Lee Altus on guitar; Kragen Lum on guitar; Jason Viebrooks on bass; and Darren Minter on drums.

MOONSORROW signs with Century Media Records

Finnish crusaders of epic heathen metal, MOONSORROW, and Century Media Records are proud to announce a worldwide deal! In regards to the signing, the band comments: "MOONSORROW are thrilled to start working with Century Media, a label that is home to many fellow artists already! We never make our music half way or with compromises and we know our art is in good hands with people who have the same mentality in running a record label. Now, after a year since the release of our last album we are ready to begin creating something new. The new chapter in this epic journey of MOONSORROW!"

Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Century Media Europe: "I followed MOONSORROW since their early days and I'm very proud to welcome them now to Century Media Records. They'll be in good family along with their countrymen FINNTROLL, TURISAS and INSOMNIUM. Two of the band members already have some history with us: Henri Sorvali is also part of FINNTROLL (even if he rarely plays live with any band) and Marko Tarvonen once moved from drums to guitar in the overlooked Death Metal allstar band CHAOSBREED, who released an album that is as 'brutal' as its title."

"Much has been said about the dark soul of Finnish Metal. A sound that is hard to copy for any non-domestic band. A sound out of endless woods, deepest sorrow and epic majesty. MOONSORROW are probably the most epic of all Finnish bands, not only because most of their songs are over 10 minutes long (sometimes even over 30 minutes), but mainly because they are able to tell stories that are older than written culture. You can follow them even if you don't understand a single Finnish word. MOONSORROW are able to take you on journey through heathen times. I'm guessing I'm not the only one who can't wait for the next chapter."

MOONSORROW was founded in 1995 by the cousins Henri and Ville Sorvali with the goal of creating metal art with a good touch of national romanticism and a distinctively pagan approach. Between 1996 and 2001, MOONSORROW released 4 demos and an album before signing with Spinefarm Records. During this time, the line-up was completed with Marko 'Baron' Tarvonen, Mitja Harvilathi and Markus Eurèn-- a winning team that hasn't changed since then. The 2nd album, Voimasta Ja Kunniasta, was released in 2001, and its follow-up, Kivenkantaja (2003), hit the Finnish album charts at #16. It also took the band to their first shows abroad in 2004. Verisäkeet (2005) reached the charts as well, and MOONSORROW played their 1st show on the other side of the Atlantic, in addition to joining PRIMORDIAL for the band's 1st full European tour, both in 2006. During that year, Janne Perttilä (also in BARREN EARTH) joined as live guitarist for the continuing extensive touring.

Their 5th album, Viides Luku - Hävitetty (2007) included just two songs, both of them checking in at around the 30-minute mark, paving the way to new heights of epic pagan art, which continued on the 68-minute long Tulimyrsky EP with another 30-minute song.

2011 saw the release of the most majestic album of the year, Varjoina Kuljemme Kuolleiden Maassa-- a full-fledged concept album about a world after annihilation.

MOONSORROW 2012 line-up:
Ville Sorvali - bass & lead vocals
Henri Sorvali - guitars, keyboards & vocals
Mitja Harvilahti - guitars & vocals
Markus Eurén - keyboards
Janne Perttilä - guitars & vocals
Marko Tarvonen - drums & vocals

LIONS LIONS Signs to Hollywood Waste Records

After several DIY years of establishing themselves via three critically acclaimed EPs and thousands of road miles, LIONS LIONS takes the next step of their career and signs with HOLLYWOOD WASTE RECORDS. Adding to Hollywood Waste's already eclectic artist roster, LIONS LIONS brings a new (yet familiar) voice to the label with a post-hardcore sound reminiscent of Story Of The Year, Finch and Thrice.

LIONS LIONS states, "We're proud to be working with a label that supports diverse music. We're excited about our new album and think it shows a side of the band that our current fans haven't had a chance to see yet. And despite our lack of makeup, we know Hollywood Waste will be a great place for us because they feel that regardless of our clothing, good music is good music."

Hollywood Waste's Danielle Fidelity adds, "We are thrilled to announce the signing of LIONS LIONS to the Hollywood Waste roster! We feel the band fits perfectly with our philosophy and are anxious to take on the post-hardcore genre with them. The band has continued to grow since signing, both musically and as people, and we're very excited to be the home of their debut full-length album."

Audiences can check out new music from LIONS LIONS via their re-vamped Facebook page where their track "The Undertow" is now streaming. The track, which can be heard here , displays the band's deft ability to negotiate the sonic tightrope between aggression and melody, with relentless guitar and drums seamlessly transitioning to anthemic vocal choruses. Produced by Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta [Bayside, Four Years Strong, Get Scared, Forever The Sickest Kids], LION LIONS' full length album will be available on HOLLYWOOD WASTE RECORDS in June 2012.

Keeping true to their road warrior mentality, LIONS LIONS will be heading out with COMEBACK KID in May.
