A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH Debut New Song on RevolverMag.com

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH will release their sophomore album Lay My Soul to Waste May 21st in North America on Steamhammer/SPV. Once again the artwork was commissioned by Sam Shearon, who is also responsible for artwork on the band's first release And Hell Will Follow Me.

Today the band has teamed up with RevolverMag.com the online home of Revolver Magazine to premiere the first single from Lay My Soul to Waste entitled "Shallow Grave". Get a first listen to the song HERE.

On the surface, A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATHare impressive. But you'll want to dig deeper and immerse yourself in all the sonic and lyrical layers, because the band isn't afraid to plume the depths of darkness that humanity is capable of. It's murky stuff, but someone has to do it.

Sal Abruscato and Matt Brown have followed 2011's incredible introduction And Hell Will Follow Mewith Lay My Soul to Waste, which keeps the band's patented signature formula of slow, deliberate sludge and head-down doom intact and as flawlessly executed as ever.

Think Alice in Chains, only harder, angrier and with a more perverse view of the world, as if they were reared in a row house in Bensonhurst, as opposed to the rainy landscape of Seattle, all the while feasting on a steady diet of Black Sabbath records.

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH arrived with And Hell Will Follow Me. They have firmly implanted their roots in the metal scene with Lay My Soul to Waste. It's a metal album that headbangers who enjoy a walk on the darker side of life will end up revering and responding to.

Lay My Soul to Waste can be pre-ordered on Amazon on both CD and LP.

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH Unveil Album Artwork for Lay My Soul to Waste

Once again the artwork was commissioned by Sam Shearon, who is also responsible for artwork on the band's first release And Hell Will Follow Me. Today the artwork has been unveiled.

Abruscato is open about the fantasy that dominates his lyrical point of view. He admits that all songs "have a line to reality...things that could and do happen everyday." But like any skilled storyteller, Abruscato likes pushing buttons. His lyrics are no different than the narratives of the horror movie playing at your local multiplex. It's largely fiction, with some nuggets or kernels of truth embedded within.

Musically, the record matches that pallor and "will hit you in the gut." There are more harmonies this time out, and the piano is a bit more front and center, while guitarist Eddie Heedles contributed some leads. But for the most part, the formula remained largely untouched. "If it's not broken, don't fix it,'" Abruscato said, matter-of-factly. "We wanted to display the advancements, musically and artistically, and retain the core element."

Mission accomplished!

PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH ANNOUNCES NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY SHOWS

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH have just confirmed two shows in the tri-state area in December. The shows will take place Friday December 9th at The Studio @ Webster Hall in New York, New York and Saturday December 10th at Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ.

Front man Sal Abruscato commented about the upcoming shows:

"I am honored to finally announce that APHND will be doing their very first show in NYC, being that we are all native New Yorkers it's definitely going to be special for us. We are very excited to close the year with APHND's "Death Before Christmas" show at the Studio @ Webster Hall Dec 9th."

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH is the brainchild of Brooklyn, NY native Sal Abruscato, and sounds like Alice in Chains mysteriously sneaking up behind Type O Negative with a butcher knife while being filmed for a future episode of "Law & Order".

Sal's partner in crime on "And Hell Will Follow Me" is Matt Brown, sound engineer extraordinaire and guitarist of fellow NY band SEVENTH VOID. "The chemistry between me and Matt is unique and flawless very rare in today's music. We are the murdering evil version of Lennon and McCartney." says Abruscato.

APHND is also a force to be reckoned with live, with shows and festivals already planned in both the U.S. and Europe. Alongside Sal, Matt and Bobby, the live line-up places Type O and Seventh Void drummer Johnny Kelly behind the kit, and Eric Morgan on bass.

"This is my pinnacle creation, the best album I have ever done." commented Sal. And after listening, most people are tending to agree.

"And Hell Will Follow Me" is available in three different formats: Digipak CD, 2 LP Set and digital download. The 2 LP Set comes on 180 gram vinyl and also includes a copy of the CD. In addition the 2 LP set features an LP exclusive bonus track: "Pickup Truck".
