RISING: Irish Tour And European Festival Run Kicks Off Next Week

Danish sludge metallers RISING are preparing for a tour across Ireland and Northern Ireland, on their way to tackle festivals in Denmark and Sweden later this month.

Set to embark on June 6th, RISING will storm four Irish cities before their performances at Copenhell Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark with the likes of Slayer, Mastodon, Anthrax, Immortal, Meshuggah and tons more, followed immediately by Hultsfred Festival in Hultsfred, Sweden with an eclectic lineup including The Cure, The Stone Roses, The XX, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators and countless others.

The crushing trio will present material from their acclaimed To Solemn Ash LP, released via Exile on Mainstream in Europe in late 2011 and on North American soil in January of this year. Recorded with producer Jakob Reichert Nielsen (Lack, Trust, Obstacles, etc.), the ten-track beast To Solemn Ash is fueled by a rigorous energy, replete with monstrous, hook-laden riffs, savage vocals and organic analog tones. RISING present their infectious sounds with an urgency and originality that warrants repeated listens and most definitely needs to be witnessed live!

Opeth + Mastodon to Embark on "Heritage Hunter" Tour

This is one tour that rock fans will be talking about for years to come and if you miss it, you'll be terribly sorry. Opeth and Mastodon will be embarking on a co-headline tour this spring, which kicks off April 4 in Portland, Maine and runs through May 12 in Atlanta, Georgia. It's the first time these two titans of progressive and forward-thinking hard rock have hit the road together and it's going to be one for the ages. Ghost will serve as the opener of the tour, which has been christened the "Heritage Hunter."

About the tour, Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt, in his trademark deadpan wit, stated, "We're touring North America together with Mastodon soon. Nice! One of the very few metal bands of today that I genuinely like. Good people too! Ghost are coming with us as well, and they are one of the hottest new bands to come out of Sweden in recent years, and I dig them too. I sound like an old fart, don't I? Well, I am.”

He continued, "Yet, am I right in thinking that this tour, this line up, is pretty decent? Would you all agree? Not complete s---, is it? Hope to see y'all out there! What are we playing? Not sure yet, but considering the company, maybe we'll have to pull out the big guns from time to time. In order to keep up, I mean."

Opeth released Heritage in September 2011, garnering critical acclaim from Rolling Stone ("a career record that reimagines prog as actual rock 'n' roll"), Pitchfork ("a pretty, well thought out collection"), AV Club ("wholly absorbing"), Decibel (which featured the band on the cover, in somewhat of a tradition for the band and the magazine), PopMatters ("Opeth still continues to make especially phenomenal music") and more.

AGNOSTIC FRONT,recently revealed the cover art (attached) and track listing to their upcoming record entitled My Life My Way. Cover artwork was brought to life this time by artist Todd Hubber, who also works with vocalist Roger Miret on designing his street wear clothing line American Made Kustom (www.americanmadekustom.com).

Miret commented on the meaning behind the artwork: "The concept was to capture the D.I.Y. ethic and crude themed artistry of the early punk flyers, with a nod to the era of crime and pulp comic themes of the early 50's. Society deemed those materials as having no social redeeming values, and as a contributor to youth delinquency. Similarly outcasted were punk and hardcore in the early day for its aggressive, anti-authority message, and dangerous aura. My Life My Way is a throwback to the early days, and AGNOSTIC FRONT has proven that what society deems unredeeming, has been, still is, and will continue to be relevant."

The record was mastered by Alan Douches (NILE, MASTODON, etc.) and will be released in Europe of March 4, 2011 and in North America on March 22, 2011.

AGNOSTIC FRONT has changed the face of music throughout its 25 year long career. The two records that started it all, United Blood and Victim in Pain, are legendary New York hardcore releases and some of the most sought-after pieces of vinyl for record collectors. Recently, these two releases were re-released via Bridge Nine Records.

AGNOSTIC FRONT's latest album, Warriors was released in North America on November 6, 2007 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was produced by MADBALL/HAZEN STREET frontman Freddy Cricien, who also happens to be Miret's younger brother. The engineering duties were handled by Zeuss at Planet Z in Hadley, Massachusetts.
