Martha's Trouble to embark on "At Your House" concert tour

Americana folk/pop duo Martha’s Trouble is set to embark on their “At Your House” Concert Tour on Friday, September 23, 2011, with planned house concerts ranging across the East Coast and Southeast (see tour schedule below). Over the summer, the band announced their intent for a house concert tour on their website, and fan requests flooded in for the band to play at locations across the country. At each stop, the duo will perform for family and friends of the host. The tour will run until the last week of November.

Says band member Jen Slocumb about the tour: “We have decided to offer the At Your House Concerts exclusively to our fans to support the release of our new album 'Anchor Tattoo.' We are setting up in peoples living rooms and backyards across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast to play the new songs off this record. It's a great, intimate and comfortable setting for our fans. A lot of people haven't experienced a concert at someone's house, and it's a really cool alternative to some of the traditional venues they are used to.”

In February 2011, Martha’s Trouble released the much-anticipated and fan-funded album “Anchor Tattoo,” their tenth self-released record and the follow up to “Forget October,” which came out five years prior. Says Billboard of the new record: “With its 10th album, 'Anchor Tattoo,' the Alabama-based husband-and-wife duo Martha's Trouble continues to intensify the mystery as to why it remains a hidden gem.”

The past five years between albums have been crucial for the duo. In addition to sustaining a career in music and continuing to tour, Jen and Rob Slocumb started a family and began raising their two children – Wilson, 5, and Emery, 3. The time allowed the couple to focus on their family and spirituality, both setting the tone for their release of “Anchor Tattoo.” The album takes the duo back to their roots, bringing back their signature sound – an Americana/folk album with pop essence – that made them touch so many when they first came to the music scene 12 years ago. “I think we went through a discovery process trying different things over the years and landed on what I would say our strength is,” Jen said. “But it took some trying. I think that’s good though. You try different things and you come to a place where you belong, where you fit. That’s what we did. And now we are stronger than ever.”
