ASG Share Blood Drive Cover, Track Listing and Album Trailer; Pre-Orders Available

ASG, the North Carolina quartet whose music Revolver described as a “compelling mix of sludge, skatepunk and ‘90s alt-metal,” share cover art, track listing and audio from their forthcoming full-length Blood Drive (May 28, Relapse).

“Days Work,” a new song from the 12-track release, which was produced by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Fu Manchu), is previewed in an album trailer now available via YouTube. Pre-orders for the CD/2xLP/Digital are available now via Relapse.

The cover art was created by Malleus, an Italian trio who have created artwork for The Flaming Lips, High On Fire, Swans and Ufomammut.

The Joy Formidable Release POV Video for "Little Blimp"; Band Begins US Tour Today Following SXSW

The Joy Formidable are excited to share their new music video for "Little Blimp" today. The video was shot over the last few weeks using a Go Pro camera attached to the headstock of lead-singer Ritzy Bryan's guitar during performances in London, Brighton, and at Stubb's during SXSW. Stereogum already raved about the video, saying "...this turns out to be a pretty visceral way to make a live video. Also of note: This song rules." Following their acclaimed shows at SXSW last week, the band are hitting the road in the US starting today, with a show tonight at The Conservatory in Santa Ana, CA. The band will be playing in Los Angeles at the Henry Fonda this week on Mar 21, followed by a show at San Francisco's Fillmore the following night. They will be heading up the West Coast and then crossing the US throughout April, making their way to the East Coast for a number of dates including April 18 at Webster Hall in New York. The Joy Formidable are touring in support of their latest album, Wolf's Law, which was released in January via Canvasback Music / Atlantic Records. Wolf's Lawis the second album from The Joy Formidable and the follow-up to their breakthrough debut The Big Roar which saw the band praised by the likes of The New York Times, SPIN, and NME as one of the most exciting new UK bands to emerge in 2011. Wolf's Law was mixed by the legendary Andy Wallace (Jeff Buckley, Sonic Youth, Nirvana).

The album has already had heaps of praise foisted upon it. Rolling Stone hailed the songs as "wickedly bracing and Himalaya-huge." Magnet proclaimed that "[Wolf's Law] is a sonic step forward, with more emphasis on orchestration (both Bryan and Dafydd have classical backgrounds) and dynamics." NPR noted that "the power and intensity of The Joy Formidable never ceases to amaze." The Cult To Headline SXSW Auditorium Shores Stage on 3/17

The Cult will make its 2012 concert debut when the band plays the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival next month, headlining the Auditorium Shores Stage on Saturday, March 17. The Auditorium Shores Stage show will be free and open to the public, and The Cult will take the stage at 8:00PM.

"SXSW is thrilled that The Cult is returning to play our biggest stage at Auditorium Shores," said Darin Klein, SXSW Festival Producer. "We're excited to hear their new tunes and their classic hits. The show is free and open to the public, so everyone in Austin should get fired up for a great night of music."

The Cult - Ian Astbury/vocals, Billy Duffy/guitar, Chris Wyse/bass and John Tempesta/drums - will make the appearance in support of Choice of Weapon, the band's first new studio album in five years, due out May 22 (Cooking Vinyl). Written by founding members Astbury and Duffy and produced by Chris Goss (Queens of the Stone Age, U.N.K.L.E., Masters of Reality) and Bob Rock (Metallica, Bush and The Cult's Platinum-certified Sonic Temple), the album reveals the band at its rawest and most visceral, and reflects the current discontent and destruction of our eco systems, the search for individual meaning against a tide of rampant materialism, narcissism and disconnected lives.

"The title of the record reflects the fact that here we are, we have a choice to make right now," Astbury recently told Rolling Stone. "In a metaphorical sense, a weapon can be a camera, a weapon can be a pen, a weapon can be a statement, a verbal statement, a weapon can be an article of clothing. I think what needs to be said is that we have to start looking inward. Our spiritual lives are almost bankrupt. The material systems are not going to fix where we are."

February 24, 2011 -- MOVING MOUNTAINS will release their third album and Triple Crown Records debut, WAVES, on May 10.  WAVES is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed FOREWORD EP (Caetera Recordings).

“Our goal with WAVES is to have someone be engaged from the start to the end,” declares Gregory Dunn, singer and guitarist of the Westchester, NY-based ambient rock band.

“When the band first started, a very close friend of mine died,” he continues.  “That was the motivation to for all the lyrics on PNEUMAPNEUMA, FOREWORD and now this new album have all been about that…being young and having people around you die, which when you’re young it’s a very strange thing.  A lot of it is also my struggle with understanding faith and existence...and just about questioning those ideas--and most importantly--how to overcome that to appreciate what you have,” continues Dunn. (2008 – Deep Elm Records).  They’re very figurative and overly metaphorical, because I was embarrassed to talk about it at that time.  With this new album, I said to myself that it's the last time that I’m going to write about it, so I’m going to be really blunt, honest and straightforward about the subject. 

Like PNEUMA and FOREWORD before it, WAVES was recorded and produced by Gregory Dunn at the band’s home studio.  It was mixed by Matt Goldman (Underoath, Copeland, Anberlin) and mastered by longtime MOVING MOUNTAINS collaborator Mike Kalajian.

MOVING MOUNTAINS are currently on the road supporting Biffy Clyro through March 1 before embarking on two weeks of pre-SXSW headline dates with Into It. Over It. In addition to making their debut SXSW appearance (as part of the Topshelf Records/Count Your Lucky Stars Records party on Wednesday, March 16 along with Defeater, Into It. Over It., Caravels, Grown Ups and many more), the band will be performing at Krazy Fest 2011 and this summer on the entire Vans Warped Tour.

KEN Mode Announces Profound Lore SXSW Show

KEN Mode is gearing up to release ‘Venerable’ on March 15 via Profound Lore and are now excited to announce their participation in the label’s official SXSW showcase in Austin, TX. The showcase will take place at VALHALLA (710 Red River St) and also features performances from Profound Lore artists Slough Feg, Grayceon, Castevet, Wolvhammer and Bruce Lamont of Yakuza. Acclaimed artist Glyn Smyth of Scrawled Design (Wolves In The Throne Room, Cough, Subrosa) created the poster for the show (attached) and will be screened and sold at the show.

HULL: Brooklyn Sludge Rockers Announce U.S. Tour Dates

Three-guitar led Brooklyn progressive sludge rockers, HULL, are readying for a near two-week tour with post-doom troupe Batillus next month. HULL kicked off what will prove to be a busy year with a devouring performance opening for doom legends Pentagram. As previously announced, the band will release their epic Viking Funeral EP, initially self-released in 2005, on vinyl via Science Of Silence records later this spring. The limited edition wax version will come in 180 gram blood red/black swirl vinyl with the song on one side, a laser etched image on the other and a parchment insert with the detailed Viking Funeral saga as well as a sticker and digital download info all wrapped in a Viking Funeral poster and wax-stamped with the band's logo. To get your hands on some Viking Funeral vinyl (as well as a sampling of the new tunes), don't miss HULL on this upcoming run of dates.
 
The band is putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed Sole Lord debut, issued via The End Records in 2009. Their sophomore full-length will be co-produced by Brett Romnes (who played drums on the Viking Funeral EP) and mixed by Billy Anderson (Sleep, High On Fire, Neurosis, Eyehategod, Melvins et al). The record is slated for release this summer with another bout of live dates to follow. Stay tune for further info...

Paper Garden Records & ThingLink Announce Official SXSW 2011 Showcase - Saturday, March 19th @ Swan Dive!

Brooklyn's Paper Garden Records is very excited to announce its first ever official SXSW Showcase in Austin, TX to be held at the new and beautiful Swan Dive on Saturday, March 19th from 8pm-2am. Co-presented with our friends at Thinglink, Paper Garden's showcase curates an audibly familiar tonality crafted with international artists. Featuring bands from Oslo, Copenhagen, Toronto, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles, the showcase brings an international community of bands and fans alike under one roof for a first look at some of this year's best up-and-coming acts.

Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson (Norway) will kick off the showcase with a dreamy post-rock sound that will ease you into indie-folk rockers, Little Tybee (Atlanta) who will be touring in support of their upcoming album "Humorous To Bees". Alcoholic Faith Mission (Copenhagen) will be up next with an experimental indie-rock sound that has been highlighted by the likes of MTV and more as a "must-see at SXSW 2011" and is flying over in support of their new album, "And The Running With Insanity EP". After Alcoholic Faith Mission will be the electronic-based Golden Ages (Philadelphia) who will pave the way for the new-wave pop band, Freedom Or Death (Toronto). Army/Navy (Los Angeles) will headline the night with their feel-good indie-pop songs that will keep you dancing through the night.
