Doug Stanhope Announces New CD/DVD - Oslo: Burning The Bridge To Nowhere Out May 3

Roadrunner Comedy is excited to announce that premiere comedian Doug Stanhope will be releasing new live CD/DVD package Oslo: Burning The Bridge To Nowhere on May 3rd, 2011.  This is Roadrunner Comedy’s first release.

Recorded in an abandoned factory in the Grünerløkka suburb of Oslo, Norway, the performance is as spontaneous and unhinged as anything Stanhope has ever done.  Originally a sewing machine factory converted to a German WWII bunker, the setting for Oslo is anything but conventional.  Whereas most comedy specials are filmed on an elaborate stage, Stanhope and Nikon Norway filled a dilapidated industrial space with lights and folding chairs, ultimately allowing the material be the focus of this release.

Oslo’s madcap backdrop mimics the process that led to the recording: Bjorn Opsahl, one of Norway’s most notorious photographers, planned only to do a portrait session with Stanhope in Long Beach.  The shoot went so well that when Stanhope came to Norway on tour, Opsahl suggested he organize a show without actually deciding on a date, time or location.   The aim was to capture the reality and feel of a live Stanhope show, in turn bypassing the choreography that pervades most “live” stand-up production.

"I've always felt that my previous recordings all sounded overly-rehearsed. That may be why my manager Brian Hennigan sprung this taping on me 36 hours before we were to scheduled to film,” says Stanhope.  “Or maybe the fact is that he is actually more insane than I am. Either way, he's suffered through enough late-night phone calls from me expounding my drunk-genius ideas of faking my own death or installing ourselves as puppet governments in unstable third-world countries that I allowed him this insanity and agreed to tape Oslo.”

“I never expected that it would go this far,” Stanhope continues, “I didn't know we be filming in an abandoned warehouse, formerly a swanky hang-out for high-ranking Nazis. I never considered it would be in front of an English-as-a-second-language audience. Mostly, I never considered that I had nothing rehearsed.  In short, it was like any other gig that actually happens out on the road, something you rarely see in a comedy release.  So, fuck it. Here it is."

Oslo: Burning The Bridge To Nowhere, available in stores and online on May 3rd, will include a CD and bonus DVD recording of the infamous live show.  Stanhope’s brutally honest style is shockingly uninhibited, ranging from biting social commentary to the crass and obscene.  His cutting stand-up has landed him appearances on The Howard Stern ShowComedy Central PresentsPremium BlendThe Man ShowFox News with Greta Van Sustern, BBC’s Newswipe and The Jerry Springer Show.  Stanhope has taped TV specials for Showtime and UK’s Channel 4.  He was also featured in controversial film The Aristocrats alongside legends like George Carlin, Don Rickles and Chris Rock.

Bob Dylan "Revealed" Coming to DVD and VOD on May 1

As Bob Dylan turns 70, a true portrait of the reclusive "voice of the generation" is revealed through exclusive interviews, and never-before-seen photos and films of Dylan's 50-year career.
Hi Res Cover ArtHighway 61 Entertainment and MVD Visual announce the release of Bob Dylan "Revealed" for worldwide DVD distribution (and VOD) on May 1, 2011 in conjunction with Bob Dylan's 70th birthday.

When Bob Dylan turns 70 in May, his iconic career will have spanned five decades. Yet, a true portrait of the reclusive "voice of the generation" has eluded Dylan fans. Through exclusive insider interviews, and never-before-seen photos and footage spanning Dylan's 50-year career, Bob Dylan Revealed offers an intimate biography of who Bob Dylan was, and who he is today.

Producer Jerry Wexler and award-winning songwriter Al Kasha provide an untold account of Dylan's early days at Columbia Records in 1962. Drummer Mickey Jones chronicles the 1966 Bob Dylan and the Band electric world tour that changed Rock n' Roll forever, while soon after, Dylan used the cover of a motorcycle accident to enter drug rehab. Dylan's 1974 comeback tour is illustrated by tour photographer Barry Feinstein through his finest photos and behind-the-scenes accounts.  In 1975, Bob Dylan hit the road with a rag-tag band of folk troubadours, culminating in "The Night of the Hurricane". Folk legend Ramblin' Jack Elliott, violinist Scarlet Rivera, bassist Rob Stoner, and Rubin "Hurricane" Carter reveal the inside story of Dylan's Desire album and Rolling Thunder Revue tour.

Following a stint as The Entertainer in 1978, Bob Dylan fell into the arms of the Lord through the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, producing three Gospel albums. Derided as "God-Awful Gospel," Dylan's radical new direction alienated fans and enraged critics. Pastor Bill Dwyer, journalist Joel Selvin, singer Regina McCrary, keyboardist Spooner Oldham, and Dylanologist AJ Weberman share intimate accounts of Bob Dylan's "born-again" transformation - and his return to Judaism!  Bob Dylan Revealed culminates with Dylan's Never Ending Tour that began in 1992 and continues to this day, as drummer Winston Watson recounts his personal journey as a warrior in Bob Dylan's "Never Ending Band".

BILLY JOEL - LIVE AT SHEA STADIUM, FULL LENGTH CONCERT FILM AVAILABLE FOR FIRST TIME ON DOUBLE-CD, DVD & BLU-RAY

On Tuesday, March 8, Columbia/Legacy will release, for the very first time, Billy Joel - Live at Shea Stadium, a full-length music film of Billy Joel's historic shows in July 2008 marking the last-ever concerts at rock's first great arena venue.

Billy Joel - Live At Shea Stadium will be available in a 2 CD/1 DVD set as well as a stand-alone DVD and stand-alone Blu-ray.

The full-concert companion to the acclaimed Lionsgate documentary "The Last Play At Shea," Billy Joel Live At Shea Stadium features more than two hours of Billy and his band offering definitive, and often transcendent versions of hits, rarities, deep catalog, personal favorites and crowd-pleasing surprises including duets with guest artists Paul McCartney ("I Saw Her Standing There," "Let It Be"), Tony Bennett ("New York State of Mind"), Garth Brooks ("Shameless") and John Mayer ("This Is The Time") along with exclusive DVD/Blu-ray bonus performances with Steven Tyler ("Walk This Way"), Roger Daltrey ("My Generation") and John Mellencamp ("Pink Houses").

Built in 1964, Shea Stadium was the home of the New York Mets for 45 years. Designed as a multi-purpose stadium, Shea became the birthplace of arena rock when the Beatles appeared there August 15, 1965, establishing the ballpark as a pinnacle venue for rock's biggest names: The Who, The Police, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and others have all played Shea.

Chosen as the last rock act to play the venue, Billy Joel staged his "Last Play At Shea" concerts on July 16 and July 18, 2008, rocking a combined audience of 110,000 fans with one of the most emotionally charged shows ever played at the historic stadium.  After 45 years, two New York Mets World Series victories, the arena debut of The Beatles and Billy Joel's "The Last Play At Shea," the final section of Shea Stadium was torn down in 2009.
A broadcast edition of Billy Joel - Live At Shea Stadium will premiere on PBS Great Performances in March.
